Tables - Sofa

Like Pembroke tables, Sofa tables were used in the parlour or drawing room. They are usually rectangular but are longer than Pembrokes, and have their hinged flaps across the short sides with 2 drawers in the long sides. They were generally placed behind a sofa and often have intricate supports to add interest when seen from afar. They can be embellished with cross-banding & stringing in other rare woods such as kingwood & burr woods, & with brass inlay. They were in use from the late 18th century & throughout the Regency period.
